Research-led again. Dealing guides put the biggest time sink not in shuffling or spreading cards:

"Remind players when the action is on them — waiting for players not realizing its their action is going to cost more time than anything."

…and they list the per-street count of players remaining as part of what a dealer announces.

The action bar now carries both:

  • A stopwatch on whoever is to act, going amber at 30s and red at 60s, so a dealer can see at a glance whether someone is genuinely deciding or has stopped paying attention. Nothing happens when it grows — it is a prompt for the dealer, not a clock on the player.
  • The count of players still in the hand, beside the pot.

Validation (Playwright, headed)

  • The timer restarts only when the action actually moves. Verified it ticks 0:00 → 0:02, survives an unrelated renderAll() (still 0:02 — the subtle bug worth guarding against), and resets to 0:00 when the next player is up.
  • Thresholds, checked by backdating the clock rather than waiting: 0:10 plain, 0:35 amber, 1:15 red, and 62:05 formats correctly past an hour.
  • No leaked intervals: the interval is running while a player is to act, and is cleared both when the hand ends (folded down to one player) and when the bar hides entirely (nobody dealt in).
  • Players-remaining tracks folds: 5 → 4 → 3.

One bug the screenshot caught, in last rounds work rather than this one: with only the blinds posted, the side-pot breakdown was announcing a "side pot" — because the big blind is larger than the small blind. Unequal amounts in front of players are normal mid-street, so the breakdown now waits for someone to actually be all-in. Verified: blinds-only shows nothing; a genuine short-stack all-in shows Main $90 / Side $340 against a $430 pot. That matters because Id argued the breakdown earns attention by staying quiet on ordinary hands — and it wasnt.

No console errors. Based on feature/casino-holdem-side-pot-breakdown (PR #24) — merge order #21 → #22 → #23 → #24 → this.

Dealing guides put the biggest time sink not in shuffling or spreading cards
but in players who haven't noticed the action is on them — and they list the
per-street count of players remaining as part of what a dealer announces.

The action bar now carries both. A stopwatch runs on whoever is to act, going
amber at thirty seconds and red at a minute, so a dealer can see at a glance
whether someone is genuinely deciding or has stopped paying attention. Nothing
happens when it grows; it is a prompt for the dealer, not a clock on the
player. Beside it is the count of players still in the hand.

The timer restarts only when the action actually moves, so re-rendering for an
unrelated reason doesn't put a thinking player back to zero, and it ticks by
repainting its own text rather than rebuilding the buttons under the dealer's
thumb. It stops when the hand ends or the bar hides.

Also stops the side-pot breakdown from crying wolf: it now waits for someone to
actually be all-in. Unequal amounts in front of players are normal mid-street —
the blinds alone are unequal — and layering those announced a side pot on every
hand before anyone had acted.
